The Campsite
For motoring visitors or backpackers, we have a picturesque, well-equipped and shady campsite just on the opposite side of a small, dry riverbed from the main lodge facilities.
There are 6 pitches at present, all of which have lots of space and are situated next to the banks of the beautiful and life-giving Kafue River.
Some of our pitches have beautiful uninterrupted views of the river and the island while others look out across the seemingly endless untamed bush of Kafue National Park.
Just behind the pitches, there are clean and well-maintained shared bathrooms with showers that are heated by donkey boilers and are open to the stars. There are taps dotted around the campsite that provide fresh, clean drinkable borehole water.
The campsite also has a cosy bar and lounge area. We supply firewood free of charge and there is a staff member to assist you with anything you may need. For those without tents, we have lightweight tents for hire on request.
The campsite can take approximately 25 guests, but often you may find you have it all to yourself. A perfect piece of paradise in the middle of deepest Africa.
Meals can be booked in the rustic open air restaurant at the main camp, where you can also enjoy a drink or two at the bar.
This section of the river is just downstream from a set of rapids and wraps around a densely-forested riverine island. Without even having to leave the comfort of your camping chair, there’s a good chance you’ll see elephants crossing the river from the mainland to the island, while crocodiles and hippos are a guarantee, as is plenty of birdlife.
